Pilates has recently made it's way on the American exercise scene like a new pop star. The teachings of Joseph Pilates have actually been around for decades. Coming from a ballet background Sharon Allen knows that dancers have gravitated towards Pilates for years in injury recovery, strength, core and balance training. Pilates studios are increasing in our country daily and Sharon believes that this frenzy can lead individuals to lose the true value of what this training really means to the mind and body. Perfecting this technique takes time, patience and mental discipline. It is important to her that the full concept of body alignment and strength be achieved slowly and accurately as opposed to quickly and misguidedly. Anyone dedicating themselves to learning Pilates can benefit if given the right guidance and nurturing.
